Formfjord is an independent industrial design and product engineering studio based in Berlin.

We develop physical products for startups, technology companies and established manufacturers — from early product strategy and industrial design through engineering, prototyping and production readiness.

Since 2006, our work has moved between design and engineering, creative exploration and technical reality. The goal is always the same: to create products that are clear, useful and possible to make.

Creative Director

Fabian Baumann is a mechanical engineer and product developer who has led Formfjord since 2006.

His work sits between industrial design and engineering — combining creative direction with a deep understanding of how products are developed, prototyped and manufactured.

This combination shapes Formfjord’s approach: design decisions are not judged by aesthetics alone, but by how a product works, how people use it and how it can ultimately be made.

Depending on the challenge, we work with specialists in electronics, PCB development, simulation, prototyping, 3D printing, tooling, injection moulding and manufacturing.

This allows us to scale expertise around the product without adding unnecessary structure.
